Struggling with bloating, acne, IBS, migraines, fatigue, or stubborn inflammation? Food sensitivity testing can be a game-changer. I run it on almost all my clients because when done right, it helps us understand what’s triggering chronic symptoms and gives us a targeted plan for healing. But here’s the thing - it’s not as simple as running a test and cutting out those foods forever. If you’ve ever felt like food sensitivity testing just left you with a long list of foods to avoid (and no real plan), this is for you! Here are three of the biggest mistakes I see - and how to do it right. Mistake #1: Avoiding reactive foods forever & developing food fearsIt IS true - if a food triggers your immune system, you need to remove it for a while. But the goal isn’t to eliminate it forever. What we REALLY want is to understand how your body reacts, heal your gut, and eventually reintroduce those foods without symptoms. I want you to be able to eat as many foods as possible without reactions - NOT to live in fear of every bite. Mistake #2: Relying on IgG food sensitivity tests (like Everlywell)Not all food sensitivity tests are created equal. Many at-home tests (like Everlywell) only measure IgG antibody reactions, which:
That’s why I use Mediator Release Testing (MRT) instead. MRT looks at all immune pathways - not just IgG - so we get a clearer picture of what’s truly triggering inflammation. Mistake #3: Eliminating foods but not healing the gut (the BIGGEST one!)This is the most common (and most frustrating) mistake I see. Eliminating reactive foods can bring short-term relief, but if the gut isn’t healed, new sensitivities will keep developing. Why? Because a damaged gut lining (aka “leaky gut”) allows undigested food particles to slip into the bloodstream, triggering inflammation and immune overreactions. The cycle continues unless the gut is repaired. Food sensitivities don’t just disappear. You need to address: ✔️ Stomach acid & enzymes: Are you breaking down food properly? ✔️ Bile flow & digestion: Is fat digestion sluggish, leading to bloating? ✔️ Gut bacteria balance: Too many bad bacteria? Not enough good ones? ✔️ Hidden infections: Are parasites or fungal overgrowth disrupting gut function? Healing the gut is more than just taking probiotics and L-glutamine - it’s about fixing the root cause of the inflammation. TL;DR: You Need BOTH Food Sensitivity Testing + Gut HealingOne without the other is incomplete. If you only do food sensitivity testing → you’ll keep playing food elimination whack-a-mole. If you only focus on gut healing → you might keep eating inflammatory foods that prevent full repair. When you do both, you get real lasting improvements. If you’re tired of reacting to everything you eat and want a targeted plan to heal your gut and stop getting all those mystery symptoms, I can help. Even though the IDEA of drinking enough water should be simple… in the middle of a busy day, it’s easy to forget. It feels a lot easier (and more fun) to stay hydrated when you have a water bottle you actually want to carry around. Investing in a good-quality water bottle - or even just keeping a 32oz mason jar nearby - makes a huge difference. It helps you keep track of your intake and makes sipping throughout the day more intuitive. (Bonus: you won’t be scrambling to refill your glass every...
You really want to avoid tea bags that look like this! Hey Reader, This one’s for my fellow tea lovers (which, honestly, feels like many of you, because multiple clients have brought this up recently, so it’s time we talk about it!): What’s the deal with tea bags and microplastics? Are they really that bad? Let’s break it down. Microplastics = Macroproblem Microplastics are everywhere - in our food, water, air, clothing, and yep, even in our tea. And they don’t just pass through the body...
We hear it all the time: Balance your blood sugar…. Avoid huge blood sugar spikes… But what does that actually mean?! And why does it matter beyond the usual mentions of weight gain and energy crashes? Blood sugar imbalances don’t just make you hangry - they set the stage for poor gut health, skin issues, fatigue, stubborn weight, and even accelerated aging. And here’s the kicker: if blood sugar is dysregulated long enough, it increases your risk for chronic disease. Let’s break it down....
